Submission Guidelines



Chrysalis is an annual literary and arts journal published by El Paso Community College that features work by EPCC’s students, faculty, and staff, as well as writers and artists of all ages from the community at large.

Reading Period Ends on October 15


LITERARY WORK

Fiction: Submit up to 2 stories/novel excerpts (no more than 2,000 words each)

Nonfiction: Submit up to 2 pieces (no more than 2,000 words each)

Poetry: Submit up to 5 poems. All styles, themes, and forms are accepted

Play or Screenplay: Submit 1-2 scenes

Graphic Comic/Novel Shorts: Submissions should be no longer than 2-4 page layouts.



Submissions for fiction, non-fiction, poetry, plays, and screenplays are accepted in English and/or Spanish. All documents should be submitted as Microsoft Word documents (.doc). Include the work’s title and your name as part of the file name.


ARTWORK

Photography and Artwork: Photos, drawings, paintings, graphic art, and photos of sculptures and installations are accepted.

The image resolution for all visual art should be 1024 x 768 pixels minimum. Save artwork & photos as JPEG format. Include the works' title and your name as part of the file name. 


REQUIREMENTS/CONSIDERATIONS

  • In order for your submission to be considered, you must fill out the Information Form
  • Chrysalis only accepts electronic submissions. Email submissions to chrysalis@epcc.edu 
  • You may submit to more than one category. Attach only one submission per email
  • You will be notified if your work has been selected for publication by the end of January


PUBLICATION DATE:  

Chrysalis is published annually in the Spring. However, due to new regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19, dates for our release events, as well as special presentations and readings are subject to change.
